That was the original story. The girls' assignment was to flesh it out; add details and interest.
A's Version (my comentary in parenthesis):
Luke swam in his pond with his ducks. Luke swam against his ducks. Luke drowned after the race (my favorite line). This happened 15 years ago. He swam against 100 ducks. They were fast swimming ducks so they beat him first (with the assumption that he beat them in the end?). Luke won the tower (this was apparently his prize). He broke down the tower. He jumped out and went home. Luke felt tired and hungry and thirsty (normal after swimming in two races against 100 ducks and breaking down a tower). He got food and drink and he went to bed.
J's Version:
Luke swam in the pond up to a cave where puppies were that couldn’t get out (why am I not surprised that she worked dogs into the story, and in the very first sentence?). He carried them to their mommy and she keeps them safe. He raced the puppies that wanted to do it with him (guess the rest stayed safely with their mommy). They ran down the path of the little rocks. Luke swam down the path with nine puppies. This happened 16 years ago. He won a blue car. Luke felt happy after winning his race. It was one of his ducks’ birthday, so they had ice cream and cones and sprinkles and hot dogs (notice that she separated the three ice cream-related items? That's how she eats them). They had chocolate cake like Andreas. They got ready for bed at night and they went to the potty, brushed their teeth, and went to bed.
Not bad imaginations overall. And they provided me with a good laugh.
